Bear Grylls with his special edition C Line Explore

British folding bike brand Brompton have launched their long-awaited collaboration with TV explorer and survivalist, Bear Grylls. The special edition version of the C Line Explore, announced back at Eurobike in June, comes with a range of adventure-ready components and accessories in an earthy colour scheme.

What's special about it

This bike is a special edition version of Brompton's C Line Explore, the brand's original exploration-oriented folding bike. Bar one or two premium touches and an earthy colour scheme, the main difference between this bike and the regular C Line Explore is the special edition luggage that comes with the bike.

The bike comes with a waterproof backpack that can also be mounted to the front of the bike, and a waterproof essentials pouch. Both are in a Bear Grylls-approved olive green.

It's a six-speed bike, which Brompton says will make virtually any hill or terrain rideable. This is the same drivetrain used in the C Line Explore. It combines a three-speed hub with two sprockets on the rear wheel to give six unique gears.

Then there's the tanwall Schwalbe Marathon Racer tyres. Again, these are the same as the tyres used in the C Line Explore, chosen for their impressive puncture protection, although they do look rather nice in that tanwall colour.

Finally, the Bear Grylls Brompton comes with a Brooks C17 Cambium saddle, chosen for its reputation for all-day comfort and its weatherproof plastic construction. This is a clear upgrade from the standard Brompton saddle that comes with the regular C Line Explore bike.

Minus the luggage, it weighs 12.2kg.

The bike is available in one colour, which Brompton refer to as 'Moss Green', with 'Mushroom' forks and rear triangle.

It'll set you back £1,895/€2,250/$2,500.
