History

Known initially as VisionTech USA, the company was founded by Peter Fraiman in 1995. It began life by producing aerodynamic components for triathletes at the Kona Ironman.

After several years spent producing high-performance components, constantly aiming to provide cyclists with faster components, the company was bought out by Taiwanese component manufacturer Full Speed Ahead.

Following the company’s acquisition by FSA, Vision Tech USA became Vision and its product range gradually expanded.

Since the early 2000s, the company has continued to grow its component portfolio, using Computational Fluid Dynamics software, wind tunnel testing and carbon fibre materials to manufacture products that continually push the boundaries of aerodynamics. FSA strengthened the brand’s production ability by opening a dedicated Vision wheelsets factory in Taiwan during 2016.

As of 2023, alongside handlebars and wheelsets, Vision produces brakes, chainrings, cranksets, bottle cages, brakes, shift levers, seatposts, and stems. The company is also wheel sponsor for several professional cycling teams, including Bahrain-Victorious, EF Education-EasyPost and Team Arkéa-Samsic.

The company now has offices in the USA, Italy, China and Taiwan.

Earning a name for itself after supplying Ironman athletes with high-performance components during the mid-1990s, Vision Tech USA was launched with an underlying focus on aerodynamic gains - well ahead of most competitors.

2003 - FSA acquires Vision Tech USA

Taiwanese cycling component manufacturer FSA acquired Vision in 2003 and helped morph the brand into what it is today.

2016 - Vision opens a dedicated wheelset factory

Keen to help Vision’s wheelset range expand, FSA opened a brand new Vision wheel building factory in Taiwan.

“We produce all the components and wheels in our company, this gives us the best and fastest flexibility for development.”

Notable wins:

  • Despite most of the attention surrounding the Slovenian’s Milan-Sanremo victory in 2021 being about his dropper post, Matej Mohorič was also using Vision Metron wheels as he descended the Poggio like a stone to claim a surprise win.
  • Vision components helped Jumbo-Visma to deliver Grand Tour glory in 2023, with Primoz Roglič using the Vision Metron 5D ACR 3K handlebars to win stage 20 of the Giro d’Italia by 40 seconds - despite suffering a mechanical on the final climb - and ultimately secure the overall title at the Italian Grand Tour.
