Cycling's five monuments vary so much in terrain and road surface that it's increasingly rare to see one rider excel in all of the classics. However, there have been some riders who were threats whenever they turned up. For that reason Eddy Merckx absolutely has to be on our list. Tom Boonen and Fabian Cancellara are current two names who are up there two. There are a few riders who inspired us to get into cycling; Andrei Tchmil and Johan Museeuw to name just two. And what about Marianne Vos? More one day races than most men's road teams..? We want to hear from you on this one so comment below and let us know who you think is the greatest classics rider ever.
