Motivational cycling quotes, done. Inspirational cycling quotes, also done. So how about the quirky, strange, amusing, and just plain weird things that people say about riding bikes?

Let's start things off with Mark Cavendish. Now he's one that isn't afraid to speak his mind, no matter what may be on it. "My wife is so hot I don't care if I lose every stage of the 2015 Tour De France to Kittel." "Yeah, he's got cool hair but my wife is super hot." Well, there you go.

Well, straight to the point in his own unique style, is double world road race champion Peter Sagan. Who once randomly said, "uphill, downhill, I like that." Like I said, straight and to the point.

Now, Bradley Wiggins, Tour De France champion, hour record, and five time Olympic gold medalist, when on the podium at the Tour De France, said this, "it's the stuff of dreams. As a child, being a fan of the sport, I never imagined that one day I'd be in this position. Kids from Kilburn don't become favorite for the Tour De France. You're supposed to become a postman or a milkman or work in Ladbrokes."

Mario Cipollini, aka the lion king, had this to say: "if you brake you don't win." Hmm, I wonderful if anybody's actually managed to do that.

Anyway, next up actress Michelle Pfeiffer is a alleged to have said this: "I relax by taking my bicycle apart and then putting it back together again." Really? What bike have you got Michelle?

Steve Carell had this genius comparison: "look at Albert Einstein. He rode a bicycle. He was also a student of Jazzercise. You never saw Einstein lift his shirt, but he had a six pack under there." Hmm.

Laurent Fignon was extremely straight forward in his assessment forward slash appraisal of very hard training: "sometimes when we train, we have simply to go out and meet the man with the hammer."

From professor to reverend, and the Reverend Desmond Tutu. Now, he had these wise words to say about our treasured pursuit: "give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring." Yeah, wise words.

Now Jens Voigt, friend of the channel, turned this quote into a catchphrase-cum-business: "when my legs hurt I say, shut up legs, do what I tell you to do." Well thanks for that Jens.

Finally some sage but also amusing advice from the legend that is Eddy Merckx. Five Tour De France wins, five Giro d'Italia wins, 19 Monument wins, and three world titles, well, just can't be wrong. "Don't buy upgrades, ride up grades." You can always rely on Eddy.
