Well fair enough, Dan’s still celebrating the 164th place in the Tour de France in much the same way. What, 9 years on? Is it always necessary to wear a helmet when cycling? In some countries yes, the law dictates that cyclists have to. But in countries where riders have the choice, what should we do? Always wear one, sometimes wear one, never wear one? If the latter is your viewpoint, you might turn to the Netherlands for supporting evidence. Just 0.5% of cyclists wear helmets, and yet it’s statistically incredibly safe. We can only start Racing News with one piece of news - Aquabluesport, the Irish Pro Continental squad, is set to acquire Sniper Cycling, who run the Verandas Willems Crelan team, home to Wout Van Aert. The was one problem, Sniper Cycling didn’t seem to know about it. Definitely one of the weirdest stories of the year - Sniper Cycling did say that discussions were taking place, but the press release and social media updates put out last Wednesday were later taken down by Aquabluesport.
