Ex-Professional cyclists Simon Richardson and Matt Stephens have a "classic" Retro Vs Modern bike special for you, including a battle up the infamous Muur van Geraardsbergen.
Simon is riding the Colnago C40 of Johan Museuuw that he rode during his cobbled classics campaign in the year 2000. Matt is on board the Trek Domane of Yaroslav Popovych that was used in the spring classics of the 2016 season.
The monocoque frame design of the Trek Domane features an IsoSpeed decoupler to aid comfort as well as doubling vertical compliance. A handy feature for the cobbled races is the integrated chainkeeper/catcher should the rough stuff throw your chain off!
The Colnago C40 was and still is highly commended for it's comfort and also the stiffness due to the pro's edition receiving extra layers of carbon. Check out Simon's stretched out position, a true belgian classic hardman position, long and low!
The terrain that the guys rode the bikes in was the Flemish Ardennes ideal for bikes of this nature!

Cyclists are known for their lean physiques. To some outsiders, they might appear "skinny" and "weak", and while we know that this isn’t the case, Dan & Si still tackle the debate head-on! In this week's show they dive into whether a cyclist's physique is truly the pinnacle of fitness ...or not!
If you were given £2,000 to buy any bike you want, what would you do? Here at GCN, we'd almost certainly go for a used bike.
