James and Emma are back for this week's ask GCN. The highlighted question this week is asking if it's better to do a recovery ride or completely rest on your rest day. Firstly, let's look at the terminology. A rest day is when you do not spend any time training or exercising. Recovery, on the other hand, is the techniques or actions taken to maximise your body's repair after training. Active recovery is used by numerous athletes because it helps to increase fresh oxygen flow to the muscles. A recovery ride would likely include an easy spin, and of course, coffee!
