GCN's Vuelta A España Stage 1 Preview | Nîmes Team Time Trial

It's very nearly that time of year again - just days before the start of the 2017 Vuelta a España, ex pro Dan Lloyd checks out the first stage of the Spanish Grand Tour. With a 13.7km Team Time Trial, its certainly going to make for a thrilling opening stage to the race.

Starting in the historical French city of Nîmes, the three week long race commences with a team time trial. It's a spectacularly beautiful and cultural city, being a former outpost of the Roman empire, but the teams won't get any chance to take it in on this stage.

Having navigated through the city past many famous landmarks and through tough technical sections, the course heads out of the city onto longer straighter roads, and even takes in a 3rd Category climb.

Team tactics will be paramount on this starting stage, with a grand finish at the Arènes de Nîmes, a Roman amphitheatre dating back to 70AD! Join Dan to recce this spectacular route that the pro teams will be taking in just a few days time.
