What’s hot in the world of tech this week? Trek has launched an Emonda ALR 4 and ALR 5 disc, and they follow the same design as the carbon offerings in the Emonda family that are out there already. These are built from 300 series Alpha aluminium tubes that are hydroformed into shape and then joined using “Invisible Weld Technology” so from a first look you could be confused for thinking the frame is actually carbon.

This year's Tour de France has got us thinking just how much we love customised kit! Almost every rider seems to have their own personalised touch on the bike these days. That wasn’t really something you saw as much of in the past. And whilst I actually think it is a really neat touch, how has it become so mainstream?

Bahrain Merida also used their Aero Number holder again at le Tour. Which looks to be made by their clothing sponsor Sportful. The panel is essentially a thin mesh layer on the outside of the pockets, which the numbers can then be inserted behind and held neatly. Tom Dumoulin was nearly in an embarrassing situation at the TDF final time trial, as he misplaced his world champs TT skinsuit. There was a panicky phone call to team kit supplier Etxeondo, at 9.30 in the morning, they made a replacement by hand! and by 2pm Dumoulin had a brand new one delivered. The joys of being just 45 mins drive away from the factory I guess.
