Are base miles in the winter the best way to start your training year? Dan and Simon give their opinion! Subscribe to GCN for more: The traditional training plan advises riders to complete a block of training at the start of the year, known as the 'base' phase. This involves long rides in the saddle at low intensities. The science behind the theory is that it develops your cardiovascular system to provide a base for higher intensity training later in the year. But - is it the best way to structure your training?
