GCN Racing News Show: Collapsed merger reflects badly on Jumbo-Visma
Dan Lloyd is in the studio to look back at the biggest headlines of the past week, including Tadej Pogačar's win at Il Lombardia
Riding away from his rivals on the descent of the penultimate climb, the Slovenian joins an exclusive club of riders alongside Alfredo Binda and Fausto Coppi who have won three successive editions.
Behind the rampaging Slovenian, home favourite Andrea Bagioli (Soudal Quick-Step) continued his fine run of form to finish in second place, whilst Primož Roglič shook off a tricky patch on the Colle Aperto to end his final race in Jumbo-Visma colours in third position.
It was Roglič's final race for Jumbo-Visma, of course, because he had announced his imminent transfer to Bora-Hansgrohe, in a shock move that appears to have intersected with the supposed merger between Soudal Quick-Step and Jumbo-Visma.
Not only is Dan Lloyd in the studio to reflect on Pogačar's win and Roglič's farewell, but he will also dive into the shocking news that this planned merger is now no more. That's right, after weeks of speculation and intrigue, the negotiations collapsed and Patrick Lefevere and Richard Plugge will remain opposing team bosses for 2024.
Elsewhere, there is a reflection on the UCI World Gravel Championships, which prompted an outcry when the organisers decided against showing live coverage of the women's race. Whilst there are plenty of other racing results to run through, from Paris-Tours to the UCI MTB World Cup and the Exact Cross Beringen.
Tune in for all this and more on this week's instalment of the GCN Racing News Show.
