The Tour de France’s maillot jaune collection of clothing is returning in 2023 with revamped designs inspired by two legends of the race, the mighty Mont Ventoux and three-time winner Louison Bobet. Designed in collaboration with clothing partner Santini, the revamped maillot jaune range is also joined by a new Redux collection which sees Santini’s most premium clothing receive a Tour de France-inspired makeover.

First launched last year, the maillot jaune range was designed to celebrate the Tour de France, but this year it’s taken a different direction, instead paying homage to two giants of the race - the infamous Mont Ventoux climb and Louison Bobet. The rider and mountain crossed paths on stage 11 of the 1955 edition of the race with Bobet winning the stage before going on to win the race.

Made up of a jersey, bib shorts, base layer, gloves, socks and a cap, the range is designed to blend style and performance. That style includes a cream jersey with yellow trim that emulates the infamous white landscape at the summit of Ventoux.

Bobet was riding for the French national team on the day of his victory and the rest of the kit pays homage to this, with the bib shorts, socks, gloves and cap featuring blue, red and white stripes, the colours of the French flag.

While Santini have focussed on a simple but stylish design for the majority of the clothing, they’ve taken a unique approach to the base layer. Bobet’s victory in 1955 was his third and final at the race. To celebrate that, the base layer has the front page of French newspaper L'Équipe, from the day after the race finished, printed across it. It’s a unique design, and we love it!

Expanding the range beyond clothing for the first time, the Tour de France has also partnered with Lazer and Elite to add helmets and bottles to the collection.

While the maillot jaune range doesn’t stinge on substance, those who favour high-performance clothing also now have the option of Santini’s new maillot jaune-inspired Redux range.

Redux is Santini’s premium, aerodynamic-fit jersey made with lightweight, quick-drying and UV-resistant woven fabrics. For the new collection, it’s been tweaked to incorporate elements of the maillot jaune design, most notably yellow trim on the pockets and the maillot jaune logo.

It’s joined by Santini’s Unico bib shorts, revamped with yellow inner lining, plus a sleeveless base layer and windbreaker.
