Mathieu van der Poel inspires new limited-edition Canyon Aeroad CFR
Canyon’s Aeroad CFR Disc has received a limited-edition makeover inspired by Mathieu van der Poel’s success at Milan-San Remo and Paris-Roubaix.
The Dutchman powered to both victories atop the Aeroad CFR and he has now teamed up with the German brand to design a limited-edition version with a unique colourway and decals that pay homage to his ‘all-action style’.
While you may not be able to emulate van der Poel’s success, you can ride the same bike as him with the new version available to buy from May 11.

The Aeroad CFR is Canyon’s flagship aero race bike that’s “developed for World Tour wins”. It’s certainly delivered on that promise with van der Poel riding it to victories in two of the four Monuments this season. Having forged a race-winning partnership, it’s no surprise that the Alpecin-Deceuninck man described it in a recent press release as, “the fastest bike I’ve ever ridden - simply sensational in every way”.
Those feelings seemed to be mirrored by Canyon who have designed the limited-edition bike with a fiery red colourway that celebrates his “all-action style”. It’s also the favoured colour of the Dutchman who used the same design on his bikes for Paris-Roubaix and Milan-San Remo.
There are more unique decals in the form of a 3D MVDP logo on the front of the head tube, plus the bike sports one of van der Poel’s favourite mantras that reflects his riding style, “poetry in motion”.
Of course, a slick paint job and decals won’t make you faster on the road and for that you can rely on the same spec that van der Poel uses - well, nearly. The Dutch star has ridden an updated version of the bike this season featuring a new seatpost clamp located on the top tube, whereas the limited-edition version keeps the original seat tube version.
Apart from that, it’s virtually the same race machine that has propelled van der Poel to plenty of success, including Shimano’s latest Dura-Ace groupset and 60mm wheels, the Canyon CP0018 Aerocockpit and SP0046 aero seatpost, plus a Selle Italia Flite Carbonio Superflow MVDP Edition saddle.
As you might expect, van der Poel’s bike doesn’t come cheap, clocking in at £9,499.
