Marta Cavalli (FDJ-SUEZ) is an Italian climber with versatile abilities across both stage racing and the Classics. In 2022, Cavalli rocketed into the cycling world’s consciousness when she won both the Amstel Gold Race and Flèche Wallonne, beating Annemiek van Vleuten head-to-head in the latter. She has gone on to prove her climbing and stage race ability with wins in races like the Tour des Pyrénées, Tour de l'Ardèche, and second overall at the Giro Donne.

2023 was something of a comeback year for Cavalli, returning to full strength after her 2022 season was derailed by a dramatic crash in the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. Though she wasn't quite at WorldTour race-winning level, the 25-year-old found her feet again in the peloton and had success at lower-level events.

This season, Cavalli forms part of a multi-pronged approach to stage races at her FDJ-SUEZ team. With both her and Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig in the team, plus climber Évita Muzic and all-rounder Grace Brown, they have several interests to balance in the tours and tougher Classics, with leadership expected to be shared between different riders.
