Giulio Ciccone is an Italian racing cyclist on the Lidl-Trek men’s team.

A distinguished climber, Ciccone turned professional with Bardiani-CSF in 2016 and spent three years on the Italian second-division team. In his first season, Ciccone won a stage of the Giro d’Italia in Sestola and quickly established himself as a rising star. In 2019 he joined Trek-Segafredo and enjoyed a stellar season that included a stage win and the mountains jersey in the Giro d’Italia and a short spell in the yellow jersey at the Tour de France.

Seen as a potential Grand Tour rider for many years, Ciccone has yet to capitalise on that hype but he has picked off some impressive wins, and his one-day pedigree also includes wins in the Trofeo Laigueglia and the Giro dell'Appennino.

In 2022 Ciccone won another stage in the Giro d’Italia, this time to Cogne. He started the 2023 season in fine fettle, winning a stage in the Volta a Catalunya and picking up several top-10 GC results. A stage victory on the final day of the Critérium du Dauphiné was an indicator of form heading into the Tour de France, and after finishing second on stage 5, Ciccone put on numerous displays in the mountains in the final week to win his first polka dot jersey.

With his success, Ciccone signed a big extension with Lidl-Trek in the off-season that is set to run through 2027.
