Descending on a bicycle is a delicate business. Assisted by gravity and protected by a mere helmet and lycra, the risks associated with riding downhill are, potentially, grave.
Almost every cyclist knows this to be true, with crashing on a downhill being something of a right of passage for any beginner with a bicycle. Nonetheless, these risks are not things a rider cannot manage and fear shouldn’t get in the way of letting anyone feel the euphoria of a screaming descent down tarmac.
To help master the art of the down hill, GCN’s Conor Dunne, formerly of the WorldTour and currently being almost certainly taller than you, has put together a video outlining five tips to help you get over the yips and get downhill, faster, safer and with more joy.
In this video, you will learn the importance of things like body position, braking technique, mental framing and confidence which all will help any rider feel more at ease at speed.
We hope you enjoy it!
