History

Back in 1996, Selle Royal was one of the largest saddle manufacturers in the world. The company wanted to expand into the high-performance field, though, and decided that a new brand would be required. That led to the creation of Fizik, which is just one of the six brands under the Selle Royal Group umbrella, but the only one that it created instead of acquiring.

Since then Fizik has created a range of high-quality cycling components and accessories, most notably saddles. This includes the Arione which was first launched in 2002, although not without a hiccup as it was originally too long for the UCI’s regulations. That was ironed out and the Arione forms a backbone of the brand’s range in the modern day with seven variations currently available.

Fizik was also famous for using animal names to classify its saddles based on different levels of rider flexibility, including Chameleon, Snake and Bull. That system has since been dropped and the brand expanded further in 2013, adding shoes to its range of products. Handlebar tape and other products have since been added to that list.

The current range of products encompasses all disciplines, from road, cyclocross and gravel, to each type of mountain biking.
