Volt Burlington step-through e-bike
John Lewis, the UK’s largest department store, now sells Volt e-bikes.
From 7 May, the retailer offers five bikes from the British e-bike brand. Two of these are hybrid e-bikes, two are step-through town e-bikes, and one is a folding e-bike. They all have a 250W motor in the rear hub and a 504Wh battery.

Volt is an independent British brand that was founded in 2010. They have an extensive range of 13 e-bikes, primarily designed for urban riding.
It’s not the first time John Lewis has sold e-bikes. It already stocks a range of Brompton folding bikes, including the Brompton electric bike, and has previously stocked the Cowboy urban e-bike.
This range of Volt e-bikes marks a substantial step up in John Lewis’ commitment to cycling, and might even indicate that e-bikes are finally hitting the mainstream.
Emilia Hougasian, category lead for sports at John Lewis, said:
“Adding such a wide variety of Volt e-bikes to John Lewis helps us showcase a full range of quality cycling options. We’re proud to support independent, British brands like Volt and look forward to our customers enjoying their award-winning e-bikes.”
That said, this new range is hardly extensive. Compared to a bike shop, the range has very few options, in very limited sizes. In fact, three of the five bikes on offer are only available in size S.
